The History of Black Jack
Originally, Black Jack was called “Twenty One”. It bore this name in 17 century. They say, the origin of the game is France, though no one is sure of it. In 1962, after Edward O.Torp wrote his famous book “Beat the Dealer”, Black Jack began gaining more popularity among gamblers. In his book Black Jack was viewed according to the theory of probability. At that time, the game had much in common with modern Black Jack played in the USA. The Jack of spades was called Black Jack, and in case a player had the Jack or the ace of spades, the winning was 10:1. After the edition of Torp’s book, most casinos changed their rules, in spite of the fact that many gamblers didn’t like them at all. Nevertheless, Black Jack had and still has the reputation of the game in which defeating the casino is quite possible.
