British Racing Newspaper Offers On-line Gaming

One of Britain’s biggest horse-race newspaper inks deal for on-line gambling

In a move to the digital world, Britain’s largest horse-racing spreadsheet signs a while label deal with renowned online casino site 888.com. The Racing Post will offer its subscriber base with casino and poker deals with 888.com providing the crucial software and client support.

Casino 888.com has been pursuing a B2B strategy since 2008 and signed up 14 customers during that year alone. For this year, The Racing Post is the fourth client brought under the 888.com B2B partnerships.

The agreement marks another success in 888.com’s B2B strategy, which has seen the Gibraltar-based company sign up 14 new B2B customers during 2008 alone. The Racing Post agreement brings to four the number of B2B partnerships achieved by 888 thus far in 2009.

The CEO of 888.com, Gigi Levy, expects the site to be up and going in the next few months. He further said his company is aggressively going into B2B in order to grow gambling revenues. Mr. Mark Renshaw, the head of on-line commerce at The Racing Post, wholeheartedly agrees with Levy’s assessment since the newspaper wants to give its readership the best content anywhere whether off-line or on-line.

On the other hand, 888.com has good news for its loyal investors by reporting that its 2008 net profit rose 8.6 percent to $37.2 million, or 10.7 cents a share, from $34.2 million, or 9.9 cents a share a year earlier. Total gross revenues rose by 20% to $256.9 million with the on-line segment contributing 14% while poker sales rose by only 4 percent to about GBP 77 million.
